ICELAND - JUNE 2025
When I set up UK Golf Guy travel I was keen to do something a little different. Of course we would run trips to world famous courses, but I also wanted to take groups to some less obvious places. And I think this one fits that ambition!
When you think of a golf trip destination, Iceland may not be the first place that comes to mind but the country has much to offer, both on and off the course.
There may only be 400,000 in Iceland but they love their golf. 10% of the population are registered members of a golf club and there are over 60 courses in the country. The season is pretty short - from mid-May until the end of September - which makes this figure all the more staggering.
In the summer you can tee it up pretty much 24 hours a day so even though the courses are busy you can always get a tee time. It may just be in the middle of the night!
Most of the golf is around Reykjavik but we will also head south to the spectacular Westman Island golf course, set in the crater of a volcano. The journey there is half the fun!
Another highlight will be Brautarholt to the north of Reykjavik, where almost every hole is either set on the water or with a stunning view.
But it would be wrong to go to this amazing country and just have a golf holiday. So we have built an itinerary which takes in the sights of Iceland too. We will have tours to geysers, waterfalls, lagoons and much more.
At the end of the week you will have experienced the best golf that the country has to offer as well as a great introduction to its natural splendour. I hope you can join me for some midnight golf in 2025.

SATURDAY 21ST JUNE 2025
You will be collected from Keflavik airport and transported to the excellent Saga hotel in Reykjavik.
This evening we will meet for the chance to get to know each other over a group dinner.
SUNDAY 22ND JUNE
This morning we will have a walking tour of the city to understand a little about the history of the world's most northerly capital city.
This afternoon we will transfer to Oddur for our first round. Urriðavöllur championship golf course is a challenging 5859 m (6407 yards) par 71. Officially opened in 1997 it quickly established itself as one of the best courses in Iceland and is a regular venue on the Icelandic Tour.
MONDAY JUNE 23RD
This morning we will leave Reykjavik for the spectacular Golden Circle Tour, This is a journey through some of the country's most iconic natural wonders and historic sites. We will take in Thingvellir National Park, the site of Iceland's ancient parliament, the Golden Waterfall at Gullfoss and the geothermal area of Haukadalur, home to the famous Geysir and its more active neighbor, Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes, sending boiling water high into the sky.
This afternoon we will play golf at Kidjaberg. It's not a particularly long course but is a good test with some small greens and wind is often a factor here. There's some interesting elevation change and you are constantly reaching for your camera with such a beautiful setting. Kidjaberg has held several top Icelandic events and is one of the best courses in the country.
TUESDAY JUNE 24TH
We will head south this morning to take the ferry over to Westman Island.
Westman Island is a unique and unforgettable experience on the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago off Iceland’s south coast.
The Westman Island Golf Club is built in the crater of an extinct volcano which gives is a stunning location. But it's not just about the views here. The course is very well laid out and great fun to play.
After the round we will enjoy something to eat in Westman Island before heading back on the ferry to Reykjavik.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 25TH
After a leisurely morning, we will head to the Sky Lagoon this afternoon. Sky Lagoon is an amazing place to unwind - a geothermal spa right by the North Atlantic Ocean, offering stunning views that make you feel like you're floating on the edge of the world.
This evening we will head to Keilir Golf Club, around 15 minutes outside of the city for an experience you may never had before - midnight golf!
The front nine is surrounded by lava, and the back nine is placed on a small peninsula at the entrance into the Hafnarfjordur harbor, with spectacular views to Snaefellsjokull glacier and the Alftanes peninsula.
THURSDAY JUNE 26TH
It's a day away from the golf course today as we take a bucket list trip to Iceland's south coast.
We will embark on an unforgettable tour exploring some of Iceland's most captivating natural wonders - a diverse landscape of majestic waterfalls, black sand beaches, and dramatic lava fields.
FRIDAY JUNE 27TH
We may just have saved the best until last! Brautarholt is set in one of the most stunning locations you will ever find. The majority of the holes are set on the water with either the city of Reykjavik or dramatic mountains behind. No wonder Golf World have it in their top 100 courses in Europe.
After our round we will head back to Reykjavik for a last dinner together, and hold the prizegiving ceremony!

WHO IS A UKGOLFGUY TRIP AIMED AT?
It's a very broad church!! Basically if you love playing great golf courses and exploring new places I’m pretty sure you will have a great time.
Often singles come along - you may find your friends aren't quite as passionate as you to discover new courses and this is a great way to meet like-minded souls.
Groups of friends do come too and that's great - the only thing I ask is that you are prepared to break your group up sometimes to play with others on the trip so we can mix things up a bit. But don't worry, I'll make sure you get to play with your travelling companions plenty too.
I run a few little competitions over the course of the trip but they are just for fun really - the focus here is on the courses and camaraderie rather than winning a trophy. If you'd rather not take part in that element, that's absolutely fine too.
So wherever you come from, whatever your golf is like - the most important thing is that you play at a good pace with a smile on your face wherever possible!
FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS TRIPS
Really enjoyed the trip David put together to Melbourne and the surrounding areas. He put together a great itinerary, had great supporting apps to follow along and was on top of every detail. Would definitely love to travel with David in the future!

David ran an amazing trip. A few highlights on organisation I'd call out: - you had everything organised and it ran like clockwork - I really liked how you mixed us up so we played with different people throughout the trip - you gave us just the right amount of information at the right time leading up to and during the trip - a nice balance of meals together and evenings free to do our own thing. - good choice of accommodation throughout the trip I had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed the overall experience.
