THE ULTIMATE EAST LOTHIAN BUDDIES’ TRIP

I am delighted to offer the ultimate East Lothian Buddies’ Trip for 2023.

In recent years, tee times at the top golf courses in the area have been sold out very quickly and some visitors to East Lothian have been unable to play the likes of Muirfield and North Berwick. For 2023 we have secured guaranteed times at the top courses for guests staying at our fabulous self catering home in Gullane - One Fairways - during three specific weeks. The house sleeps up to 8 people and is only a minute’s walk from the first tee at Gullane 1!

NB - THE ACCOMMODATION AT ONE FAIRWAYS IS NOW SOLD OUT FOR THESE WEEKS BUT WE DO HAVE A FEW TEE TIMES AVAILABLE ON W/C 11th SEPTEMBER WHICH WE CAN PACKAGE UP WITH LOCAL HOTELS IF REQUIRED

As well as tee times, we can also organise transport for your party and provide dinner recommendations and reservations if you wish. This is an amazing opportunity to spend some time on ‘Scotland’s Golf Coast’, playing the very best courses in the area.

Pricing is from £2,395 per person for twin accommodation, £3,295 for single occupancy. This includes transport, 7 nights accommodation and 7 rounds of golf.

Sample itinerary:

MONDAY
Transfer from Airport. Play Gullane 2. The course is the favourite of many visitors and locals. Set over the same ground as Gullane 1 but with slightly more accessible holes and playing a little shorter, this is the perfect warm up round straight off the plane!

Check into your accommodation at One Fairways. One Fairways is a luxury 4 bedroom house in the heart of the East Lothian village of Gullane. The house is furnished to the highest standard and is perfect for families, friends or golfers holidaying in this idyllic part of Scotland. All of the bedrooms are en-suite and can be set up with a king size or twin beds.

The owner, Clare, has thought about everything you could want to make your holiday perfect. From large screen TVs to comfy beds and high pressure showers, she’s got it covered.

TUESDAY
The highlight of today is a round on the West Links at North Berwick. This is simply one of the best experiences anywhere in the world of golf. The course is ridiculous fun from beginning to end. Home of the original Redan, holes like ‘The Pit’ and ‘Perfection’ will give you memories to last a lifetime.

After your round we can organise a historical walking tour of North Berwick if you wish, or you can hang out in one of the pubs in town before your transfer back to Gullane.

WEDNESDAY
A change of pace today as we take you to Kilspindie Golf Club in nearby Aberlady. This is a gorgeous little course with lovely views over the Firth of Forth. You can try out all kinds of links shots that you don’t get to play in many other parts of the world, but it won’t beat you up too badly either!

For dinner, we can book you a table at Greywalls restaurant. With lovely views over Muirfield, this will give you a great taste of what is to come tomorrow!

THURSDAY 
Today you will play on of the very best golf courses in the world. Many consider Muirfield to be the finest test of golf on The Open rota. The list of winners at Muirfield reads like a Who’s Who of golf - Vardon, Braid, Player, Hagen, Nicklaus, Watson, Els, Faldo and Mickelson have all won here.

The course is simply sensational, but that’s only part of what makes a day at Muirfield so wonderful. The atmosphere in the clubhouse at Muirfield is very special - stay for the formal lunch and then go out again for some foursome golf in the afternoon. A day at Muirfield is one of golf’s ultimate treats.

FRIDAY
It’s another East Lothian classic today with a round of golf on the Old Course at Musselburgh Links. This claims to be the oldest club in the world and hosted the Open six times in the early days. You may well want to hire hickory clubs to get the most enjoyment out of your round on this historic gem.

After your round we can organise for a trip into Edinburgh to explore the city, and dinner in Scotland’s capital.

SATURDAY
You don’t have to go far today for your golf. Your accommodation at One Fairways is only a minute’s walk from the first tee of Gullane 1. Home to two recent Scottish Opens, Gullane 1 is one of Scotland’s premier links golf courses. The course takes you up to to the top of Gullane Hill where you will enjoy some magnificent views over the Firth of Forth and over to Fife. Bernard Darwin described the view from the seventh tee as one of the finest in all of golf.

After the round why not take the short walk to The Old Clubhouse pub and spend the evening with the locals swapping stories of how best to get round this classic Scottish links?

SUNDAY
Your last round is at yet another wonderful links course. Dunbar is about half an hour to the east of Gullane and this fine course has held Open qualifying as well as many of the country’s leading amateur events. The first three holes are inland but then you play the rest of your round on a slither of land along the Firth of Fort, rewarded with wonderful views on every hole.

For your last evening in Gullane we can book you a table at The Main Course, a lovely Italian restaurant just over the road from One Fairways where you can look back over an incredible week of links golf.

MONDAY
Transfer to airport and departure. If time allows we can arrange for one last game before your flight!

Tee times at Muirfield and North Berwick have been reserved for these weeks. The above is a sample itinerary. I can work with you to create a bespoke itinerary for your group. For example, you may wish to have a round in Fife at Kingsbarns or Elie or head over to the west coast and play at Prestwick or Troon. Both are doable for day trips and we can arrange the itinerary to suit your own wishes.
